Our mission in Afghanistan
The original aim of the charity was to support serving soldiers on the front lines of Afghanistan rescue the companion animals they had adopted during their arduous tour of duty. To date we have now assisted over 700 soldiers serving in Afghanistan to be reunited back in their home countries (USA, UK, Canada, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Holland and Germany) with the dog or cat that adopted them since our formation as Nowzad the non profit charity in 2007.Read more »
The Nowzad Dogs Animal Shelter
Nowzad Dogs proudly boasts the first and only official dog shelter for strays in Afghanistan. Our well designed and purpose built shelter provides a safe, sheltered environment for 100 stray dogs and current soldier animal rescues we are assisting on the outskirts of Kabul.Read more »
Our Animal Clinic
The Nowzad Conrad Lewis Clinic for small animals is funded solely by your generous donations. Our four Afghan national vets have been expertly trained by the generous support of Dr Mohammad (Mayhew International, London) and Dr Susan Chadima of Maine, USA who have both given up so much of their time to teach, oversee and support our vets to learn new valuable skills that have now seen our clinic carry out extremely necessary amputations on street dogs injured in road accidents, dentistry on cats with severe teeth problems, a tumour removal from a much loved soldiers adopted dog and of course the constant need for neutering and spaying of the stray population.Read more »
